Local LibDems push for a National Conference Centre in Stamford

July 29, 2008 1:19 PM

At Stamford's Local Area Forum held on July 17th at Stamford Town Hall, the proposal for a National Conference Centre for Stamford was raised by the Liberal Democrats. Cllr Maureen Jalili (LibDem) criticised the lack of specific economic development plans by SKDC when she raised the need for alternative employment opportunities. Stamford LibDems have long argued that tourism as a basis for continued employment and growth was not guaranteed and that Stamford needs to ensure economic growth for its future generations, rather than become simply a retirement town. We are pleased to report that SKDC have now agreed to seek funding for a feasibility study on this.
