MP joins riverside spring clean

April 4, 2012 11:26 AM

MP Julian Huppert is joining a major spring clean later this month along Cambridge riverside.

Fifteen teams of litter pickers on foot, bikes and boat and are taking part in the Cambridge Spring Clean on Saturday, April 14 to clean-up from the Fen Causeway to Fen Ditton.

Julian, who was the founder Chair of the Friends of Stourbridge Common, will join the event between 10am and 12.30pm at the riverside entrance to Stourbridge Common. Other teams will be leaving from the Fort St George pub, where free coffee before the event and a barbeque after is being offered, and the bridge by the Mill Pond in front of The Mill pub.

"I am really looking forward to taking part in this event," said Julian. "Litter can pose a real threat to wildlife and this is an ideal opportunity to help protect the birds and animals while at the same time making the area better for residents and visitors.

"I would encourage everyone to come along and take part. We all benefit from having these wonderful spaces along the river - let's keep them wonderful for everyone!"
