Young peopleHi there,

I'm Jodie Cresswell-Waring. I am a visual artist and educator living and working in the East Midlands. At the moment I am working on an exciting research/consultation project for the East Midlands Creative Consortium. My mission is to speak directly to young people (focusing on 13 - 25 years olds) to get them to speak out on services in the East Midlands. Their voice and opinions is a crucial part of my research. One form of gathering this info is via a widespread survey: Beyond this I have ran creative workshops across the region with focus groups and done several one-to-ones in rural and urban locations.

The East Midlands Creative Consortium are a group of collective experts who are currently in the process of measuring what services and opportunities exist for young people in the East Midlands. My role is to find out at grassroots level what young people think about these services and what impact/legacy they have. So far I am collecting information from young people and service providers to find out what everyone thinks and how this can be improved across our region.

I am contacting you to ask what you think could be improved for young people? With our region facing many cuts (especially external services who are no longer visiting schools or have the funding to set up groups outside of schools) it is a challenging time for young people to gain quality information and experiences. If you have any comments or opinions I would be grateful to receive them to include them in my research.

Interestingly 85% of YP who I have consulted with in secondary school do not feel that they know about politics and that they have no opinion on political parties. Their parents are the sole point of information.

Please include your full signature on your opinion (full name, role, organisation & email address)

I look forward to hearing your opinions.
