As rainfall arrived yet again in Harborough residents of Glebe Road were subjected to a sudden flood as muddy water suddenly cascaded down from a nearby building development. At least one home lost its electrical supply.

Worried residents called from help to the District and County Councils and sandbags were delivered onto site with drain covers being lifted in an effort to cope with the relentless flow.

Leader of the Liberal Democrats on Harborough District Council, Cllr Phil Knowles was contacted by residents who were desperate for answers and he quickly arrived on site to see the situation for himself.

'' I am very grateful for the action of our officers who delivered the sandbags to site and who have continued to monitor the situation however the question has to be asked - Why did this happen?

I have asked that planning and enforcement officers be made aware of the incident along with the concern and inconvenience caused. The officers need to investigate the questions, what caused this, is it likely to occur again and to report accordingly''
