Work begins soon on children's play park make-over

November 28, 2012 11:31 AM

Work is due to start next month on a make-over for a children's play park in Holbrook Road, Cambridge.

The park was provided by Cambridge City Council in 1995 after children asked for it through a petition.

Now some of the children who signed the petition have their own children and the existing play equipment is being refurbished for the new generation.

New play equipment will be installed including a roundabout and a new multi use climbing frame and there will be new landscaping.

Cambridge resident, Amanda Taylor, who lives in Holbrook Road and uses the park with her son, canvassed residents asking for their ideas for the refurbishment.

She said: "This park has been well used and enjoyed by youngsters over the years but it had started to look tired and outdated. I am delighted that the city council is carrying out this makeover for the new generation of children who I hope will get as much fun out of it.

"Residents have really engaged with the process coming up with plenty of ideas and I am grateful for their help."
