Councillor gives parents say on new school sponsors

December 17, 2012 12:38 PM

Cambridgeshire County Councillor, Ian Manning is giving parents the chance to have their say on who should run a new Cambridge school.

Five organisations have come forward to run the new primary school in East Chesterton and Cllr Manning, who represents the ward, has organised a public meeting this evening (Monday, December 17) to give residents the chance to put questions to sponsors.

The meeting will take place at 8.15pm, at Cambridge's St Andrew's Hall, and from tomorrow (Tuesday, December 18) residents will also be able to raise questions through a website at

"I'm pleased so many sponsors have come forward with a real variety between them," said Cllr Manning. "We must not forget that the most important people in this process are the parents and children in East Chesterton. I want to give them a real voice, and together we can challenge the sponsors to give us the best school possible."
