Phil Knowles at HospitalMembers across the Region have registered a record response to the call for potential motions for the East Midlands Regional Conference in Nottingham on February 23rd. We have received offerings, suggestions and motions running well into double figures. Here's an update on the 'policy programme' and an insight into the events for the day.

First motion received was on the subject of The Scottish Independence Vote and the involving of all UK voters in the decision process - as this was first in it automatically secures the number one slot for debate.

The HS2 project has created huge interest. We have set aside a workshop time slot for an open discussion on this and an opportunity to update members on the possible special event we hope to organise later in the year with a very special guest. This, though not part of the formal Policy debates, will give all delegates an opportunity to put forward views and suggestions.

Then we come to the other 8 proposed motions received before the deadline. They cover a very wide ranging subject base:-

It is possible of course that some of the motions may be withdrawn prior to Saturday but the intention is that the two motions from the 'other eight' that attending delegates wish to debate will be the two that fill the other two Policy Slots. As delegates arrive on Saturday 23rd they will be given a ballot paper with the eight motions listed and asked to select two - that vote will make the decision.

It is important that all members have the opportunity to view the motions and they can be seen after logging in at the links aboveso that they can be read in full and those attending will have the opportunity to look at some of the back ground detail prior to Conference.

With such a large number of possible motions it would be appreciated if all delegates/members attending conference would download all of the motions and bring their personal copies with them. I talked with Joan Garrity this morning and it would be almost impossible for her to bring paper copies on everything for all who are expected to attend.

Thanks for your support and input, hope to see you at Conference - there is still time to book your place and to get involved.

ps.......... The only thing that may alter the use of the third policy time slot is a genuine emergency motion, rules on this as previously outlined
