Euro renewablesToday's proposals are a step in the right direction towards an ambitious emissions reduction target for Europe.

They provide the flexibility to tackle climate change in the most cost-effective way, so that British consumers aren't paying over the odds to go green.

This package backs the green growth agenda I've been working for with other European colleagues."

Comment from David Garlick - Northampton

On our heads be it.

Ed Davey may be right that it is a step in the right direction but it is a puny and inadequate step that does more to protect the producers of carbon emissions than it does to reduce them.

This will leave the planet heading for a disastrous hike in average temperature and the inevitable consequences.

I am speechless.
