Lib Dems announce Parliamentary Candidates to fight for Northampton

October 1, 2014 7:29 PM

Northampton Liberal Democrats are delighted to announce their parliamentary candidates for the 2015 general election. In Northampton North, a ballot of local members has selected Angela Paterson. In Northampton South, the ballot selected Sadik Chaudhury to contest the seat.

Both candidates are Northampton locals, with Sadik living in Ecton Brook and Angela in East Hunsbury.

"Living in Northampton means we have a genuine sense of the issues residents experience" commented Angela.

"We have a real stake in the town's future" added Sadik "Because it's our home too."

Both candidates are experienced campaigners, having served as Councillors and taken up many issues on the behalf of residents.

"In the North and the South, Northampton can do better than a career politician who is more interested in their own career than the good of our town." Concluded Angela.

Sadik is a small business owner who has strong links to the community and the voluntary sector. He has been involved with fundraising for a number of organisations and supported a program to engage young people with the community through football. He is a trustee of a local mosque, and a former executive member of the Northampton Bangladeshi Association.

Angela is a former secondary school teacher who moved into computing before taking some time away from work to have children. During this period she gained a degree, and vital links with the local community through schools and children's groups.

Northampton Liberal Democrats FOCUS teams will fight for both Parliamentary seats in Northampton, because we believe the town deserves better than the endless swing between red and blue career politicians, many of whom are parachuted in from other parts of the Country. Northampton needs a strong voice for our town - not just another voice for the government of the day.
