October 27, 2014 3:30 PM

Vince Cable and his wife Rachel both took to the water at Hampton Pool to support the Crossways Pregnancy Crisis Centre. They joined 37 other swimmers, aged from 6 to 70+ swam a magnificent total of 35 miles - equivalent to crossing to France and getting 2/3 of the way back to England again!

Opening the event, Vince told fellow swimmers "I know from meeting people who come to my surgery for help that the Pregnancy Centre meets a real need". The money raised by swimathon exceeded the original target for the event the

Crossway Centre hopes that the total money raised will be at least £8,000. Thanks to the generosity of the staff and Trustees of Hampton Pool, who donated use of the facilities for the event, expenses were minimal. This means, with gift aid, funds will exist to pay for over 500 more teenagers and others to access services, whilealso taking on more volunteers so the work can expand. Well done to all involved!
