SAM ASPLIN
Sam works as a teaching assistant at Whissendine Primary School and has represented Whissendine on Rutland County Council for the last 6 months.
As county councillor Sam has worked hard to resolve individuals' issues and make progress with both the on-going parking and flooding problems within the village. On the County Council Sam has served on both the Children's and Resource's Scrutiny panels holding the Council's Cabinet to account.
Sam has regularly attended Parish council meetings and actively taken up issues on their behalf. He has advocated on behalf of Whissendine's Good Neighbour scheme and has recently been successful in influencing the Council to offer subsidies, which should shortly allow residents to use the service at a reduced cost. Sam is also working alongside the village shop to try and bring back local post office facilities.
Sam says 'It has been a privilege to represent Whissendine on the council. In the short time I have tried my hardest to tackle the issues affecting residents. Much progress has been made on a number of these issues and I would welcome the opportunity to continue the work I have started.
Liberal Democrats are well known for their localism. I believe this county's interests are best served by a strong Liberal Democrat presence on Rutland County Council.'
