Congratulations to our councillors Gale Waller, Sam Asplin, Simon Galton, Peter Elliott and Amanda Burrell for holding their seats on our local councils in Rutland and Harborough.

And thanks to all of the other candidates and campaigners for their hard work, especially John and Fiona Hughes.

Here is a summary of our results:

General Election: Ed Reynolds received 4,407 (fractionally over 8%) of the votes cast which in the circumstances of the election generally was a very respectable result

Council Elections:

All our 5 sitting councillors - Simon Galton, Amanda Burrell and Peter Elliott on Harborough District Council and Gale Waller and Sam Asplin on Rutland County Council - were re-elected with comfortable majorities

All our other candidates for Rutland council - Gavin Davies (second of 4 candidates at Exton); Brenda Palmer (a close second at Langham); Joanna Burrows (a close third in the 2 member Oakham North West ward); Michael Griffiths (third in the two member Ketton ward) and Richard Swift (over 300 votes in Oakham South East) - achieved results which can give us much confidence for the future

Our other candidates for Harborough council - Grahame Hudson for Nevill and Pam Galton for Tilton - lost straight fights with Conservative candidates but both received significant numbers of votes.
