Tusk should call informal summit to agree coordinated EU position

"By deliberately choosing to target non - ISIL operations at the behest of Assad,Russia is fanning the flames of a broader regional conflict."

"It is a grave mistake for President Putin to muddle ISIL fighters with more moderate forces. This is a reckless and potentially counter-productive approach, which will only cause more civilian casualties and an intensification of the civil war."

"It's vital that High Representative, Federica Mogherini and President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, urgently takes steps to find a common EU position on how we should help solve the situation in Syria."

"If an informal summit of EU leaders is required to find a common position, then this should be organised as soon as possible."

"It's time the US and the EU meet together with all regional actors, including Russia, to agree on localised ceasefires and no-fly zones, while working to initiate a political process that can deliver regional stability."
