Railway Policy

Dear all

We had a discussion about railways policy at a recent East Midlands Conference and at the end of it I commented that the party as a whole had no national-level group that could contribute meaningfully to the development of railways policy.

You don't need anyone's permission to set up such a group, just someone motivated enough to do it.

So, what I have done is trawled through my address book and past e-mails and found everyone in the East Midlands, and everyone in the Assoc of Lib Dem Engineers and Scientists who I have ever been in contact with regarding railways.

I have blind copied you all as I don't have the right to disclose the e-mails of each of you to the others without your consent.

I thought the first step along the road was to establish an e-mail group, so like-minded Lib Dem people who are interested in railway policy can talk to each other. Next step might be so see if we can find anyone else interested to join the group.

I am not inclined to take it any further than that because I am not myself a railways person beyond being a bit interested generally, and I have other irons in the fire, but I am hoping one of you might take it further. Next step might be to contact Baroness Jenny Randerson who is the party's transport spokesperson.

So, who would be interested in taking part in any such discussion group please? If you agree I will send out another e-mail to all those interested and we can take it from there,
