The Whissendine by-election takes place on Thursday 3 March 2016. It is to replace LibDem Sam Asplin who has had to stand down due to health reasons. Our candidate is local man Kevin Thomas.

Kevin says "I am hoping to follow Sam Asplin's example and do good work for my village."

Canvassing and leaflet deliveries have gone well and received positive comments and responses from many residents. Kevin is the only candidate who lives in the village.
Given that Rutland County Council consists of mostly Conservative members it is hoped that Kevin will have the chance to work with LibDem Gale Waller and others to form a larger opposition. His experience of local politics would be of great benefit to the people of Whissendine and to the people of Rutland as a whole.
