More than 4 million pro-Europeans recently signed the petition "EU Referendum Rules triggering a 2nd EU Referendum." The House of Commons' Petitions Committee has decided to schedule a debate on this petition. The debate will take place on 5 September at 4.30pm in Westminster Hall, the second debating chamber of the House of Commons.

Nick Hopkinson, Chair of the Liberal Democrat European Group, said "It is hoped all pro-Europeans will call on their MPs to intervene in the debate and support the unprecedented volume of voters calling for a second referendum, possibly on the terms of what BREXIT actually entails, in light of the mendacious campaign and slim majority, and the adverse impact of BREXIT on the economy and national unity."
