Joanna Burrows - Liberal Democrat Candidate for Exton Ward

On Thursday 9th of March a councillor will be elected to represent Exton ward on Rutland County Council.

Joanna Burrows has lived in Rutland for twenty years, working firstly as a nurse at the Rutland Memorial Hospital, then for several charities including Age Concern. She ran the Pyramid Project (an initiative for primary school children to increase their self-esteem and resilience), a project to help reduce the use of illegal drugs and alcohol, and currently she fundraises for Twenty Twenty, a charity dedicated to the education and support of disadvantaged young people across Leicestershire and Rutland. She has also been involved in the local Water Aid group.

"I am passionate about Rutland, and keen to see that precious and limited local resources are targeted wisely, and to the optimum benefit of both older and younger residents. Being a qualified nurse, issues affecting the Rutland Memorial Hospital have a special resonance with me, and I am concerned about any reduction of local health services."
