I am delighted to have been chosen as the Liberal Democrat candidate for the Billesdon & Tilton Wardof Harborough District Council elections on Thursday 2nd May 2019.

I have lived at Illston on the Hill with my wife and family since 1984. I came here as Leicester's second Professor of Pathology and from 1999-2008 I was the Head of the Medical School. I have previous experience as a District Councillor having spent 3 years on Gateshead Metropolitan District Council where I was the Deputy Group Leader.

Rural Leicestershire has been dominated by the Conservative Party for far too long. Your Local County Councillor, Simon Galton has broken the mould for this area and now is the time for change at District Council level.

It's clear: the last thing Billesdon & Tilton needs is more Conservative influence.

Elections in our area are nearly always a close contest between the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats. Other parties simply cannot win here. Labour, UKIP, and the Greens rarely contest this Ward. Many of their supporters are giving the Liberal Democrats and myself their vote this time to stop the Conservatives from winning.

What I am for:
1. Remaining in the European Union.
2. Greater Political accountability - Councillors must keep in touch.
3. Planning decisions must be considered by the full planning committee if the local Parish Council/Meeting objects
What I am against:

  1. I strongly oppose the proposed A46 Leicester East Relief Road.

  2. All forms of discrimination. I am appalled by Labour's apparent anti-semitism.

P.S. Remember, only the Liberal Democrats and myself can stop the Conservatives here.
