The election for a new county councillor for Ryhall and Casterton has been announced for Thursday 12th September. The Liberal Democrats, who tripled their councillors in the recent local elections and have seen a 35% increase in membership so far this year in the Rutland and Melton constituency, will be fielding a strong local candidate who lives in the ward. Beverley Wrigley-Pheasant, who has previous experience of serving as a Lib Dem councillor for the ward of Witham, Thurby and Norththorpe on the South Kesteven District Council some years ago, says: Beverley Wrigley-Pheasant

"I have had a career in teaching, both locally and further afield, and have also been in business in a variety of guises. I currently run a gallery in Stamford which supports local artists by displaying their work. I am now happy to be standing for the Liberal Democrats in the ward I have lived in for the past forty three years and I am well aware of the key local issues facing us: access to doctors' practices; getting our children into the schools we want; provision for our elderly; and the proposed development of Stamford North and the impact that will have on both our roads and our access to essential services - no school is being proposed".

If elected, Beverley will join fellow Liberal Democrats Gale Waller (Normanton), Abigail MacCartney (Cottesmore) and Joanna Burrows (Oakham South) on Rutland County Council.

Beverley and the Lib Dems would greatly appreciate the help of local party members and supporters in the campaign leading up to polling on 12th September.

1. On the afternoon of Sunday 18th August, Gale Waller will be hosting a work party to address envelopes and stuff with letters to postal voters from 2pm.

2. On Saturday 24th August Joanna Burrows and Gale Waller will be coordinating delivery of election leaflets and canvassing in the constituency. Meet outside Ryhall Village Hall, St John's Close, Ryhall, PE9 4HS, at 2pm.

3. On Monday 26th August Joanna Burrows and Gale Waller will be coordinating delivery of election leaflets and canvassing in the constituency. Meet outside Ryhall Village Hall, St John's Close, Ryhall, PE9 4HS, at 10am.
