Two factors have inspired me to stand in the County Council elections of 2017: first, the chance to serve in a new role the community I have already served for over thirty years as a member of the teaching profession; secondly the positive, forward-looking and principled politics of the Liberal Democrats.

I grew up in a Labour stronghold and have lived for twenty-seven years in a Tory one. I chose to join the Liberal Democrats. In Labour held and Tory held councils up and down the land, Liberal Democrats are making huge gains this year and I shall be trying my best to make the voice of moderation, openness and pragmatism louder in Lincolnshire.

After a brief spell working in the City of London, I have spent the greater part of my professional life in teaching - from which I have learned a lot! - and I believe my skill in public speaking and individual discussion would stand me in good stead for working as a councillor. If I were elected, I would bring to this privileged role all the insight, wit and wisdom I could muster as advocate for all the people of Bourne South and Thurlby.
